We know that children deserve extra privacy protection, and each country has different rules on how children should be treated depending on their age.
GoBrainly treats Child Users (meaning users under the age of 13 in Singapore or another age of digital consent in their country) differently to ensure their parents are in control and we only collect the bare minimum information we need to make GoBrainly work.
You can request for your account and personal information to be deleted by contacting us at: [email protected]. It can take up to 14 working days after we receive your account deletion request and we will update you via email. Kindly note that account deletion is irreversible and your personal information will be erased along with your account deletion.
This clause exists to protect the privacy and safety of all Users, especially children. Students on the Platform may be as young as 13 years old. We have built the privacy features below into the Platform by design, with their protection in mind. These features apply in addition to the rest of this Privacy Policy. They do not limit your rights under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”).
Every User, whether a Student or an Educator, appears on the Platform under a username they choose.
No other User and no member of the public can see your full legal name.
We hold your full legal name privately. Only authorised GoBrainly personnel and our service providers can access it, and only for the purposes set out in: How we use your personal data.
A username reduces the chance that others can identify you. It does not make your personal data anonymous.
Each Educator’s profile displays the name of their verified qualification and year of completion (for example, “Bachelor of Science, Class of 2018”). The awarding institution is not displayed.
We check each qualification against the supporting documents the Educator provides before it is displayed.
By submitting a qualification for verification, an Educator agrees that we may display these details on their profile.
No person can follow, subscribe to or receive updates about a Student’s activity on the Platform.
A Student’s profile, lesson history and progress are not visible to the public. Only the Student’s booked Educator and authorised GoBrainly personnel can see them, and only as needed.
The Platform does not publish leaderboards, rankings or public comparisons of Students.
Educators’ ratings are shown on their profiles. Users may sort or filter Educators by rating to help them choose an Educator.
When a Student submits a review or rating, we mask the author’s username before it is published. Only the first and last letters are shown, in a fixed format (for example, “A** **N”).
Please do not include identifying information in a review. We may edit or remove any review that does.
These features reduce the risk of identification. They cannot remove it entirely. For example, a User may choose to share personal information with another User.
If you wish to contact us regarding this policy, please do not hesitate to contact us at: [email protected].
